What would be his purpose for lying though?
I would imagine a respectable scientist and astronaut would have some credibility.

Anyone can be a nutcase. According to Wikipedia, another friend of mine. He also has said a teenage boy healed him of cancer. Even though he never took a test too officially proove he had cancer in the first place.
