| So, just to pass the time, I thought of making a thread in which everyone could participate. Seeing as how everyone here likes to flame one another (usually rather ignorantly) I thought I would make a post, in which you can do just that--But in a civil manner. Not flaming. Not bashing. Not spamming. No. --Debating--.
So, the topic of the debate:
History--What is it? Philosophy--Does it hold any sway?
Is history made based upon philosophical views, or do people make philosophical views based upon history?
Hope you enjoy this thread. - Zomgzombie- |

Both are true.
We create our picture of our world through our experience in it, yet our experience is also a part of our world. _________________ The really wise is one who manage to understand what he does not understand.

| I agree, which is why I say that we cannot have one without the other.
But, here is the question..
Do we base our philosophical views based upon what has happened in the past... Or did we shape the past, based on our philosophical views?
See, history is acts, ideas, or events that will or can shape the course of the future, while philosophy is the rational investigation of the truths and principles of being, knowledge, or conduct.
That being said, either we investigated and shaped our past on what we (for the lack of a better term) discovered, or we shaped the past, and THEN investigated it.
Loved your reply! =D |
